Hello. I have just finished building a computer, but when I turned it on i noticed that the graphics card fans are not spinning and there is no display. I am using a Gigabyte radeon R9 270 graphics card with a ASUS M5 A97 motherboard. There seems to be power because the card is giving off heat, but i am not getting any output display. I have also tried reseating the graphics card to ensure that it is locked in, and it is. Is there anything else to try before calling it a lost cause? Thank you.

1. You could require an RMA for the card since it might just be dead.
2. Have you plugged in all the power connectors? The PCI-E power connectors on the side of the card? If you haven't then that's a problem.

He can't even boot up his computer lolol.

Mind providing us with the specs of the computer? Something may be causing something to not POST correctly.

Most times its something as simple as your card was DOA and you just need RMA the card.

That's what I was thinking but if could just be a faulty setup.

Can you provide the rest of your specs?

The R9 270 requires at least 1x 6-pin PCI-E power connector plugged into it from the power supply.

Have a read through this troubleshooting guide:
http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/261145-31-perform-s...

If all things are in place, then it may be a dead graphics card, it happens. Test with a spare GPU if you have one.

(6-pin PCI-E cable)

All the power connectors should be connected, both of the 6 pin PCI-E ports are filled. Unless one of the connectors is faulty, but i dont think so, because i reversed them to the same effect. I am not sure what kind of specs you are looking for, but the cpu is an amd 6300 3.5 ghz processor, I put in 4 gb ram and 1 Tb HDD. The graphics card (as mentioned above) is a Gigabyte radeon R9 270.

What make/model PSU do you have ?

If you have a spare graphics card laying around, try that & see if it works, just to rule out if the R9 270 is DOA.

Or try the R9 270 in the 2nd (black) PCI-E x16 slot, to rule out if the top slot is defective.

Or just try and boot without the card...

That ASUS M5A97 motherboard has no video output.

So what processor does this thing fit anyways? FX chips?
Do they not have iGPU?

FX-6300, which doesn't have an IGP. Only the AMD APU's have IGP.

So as this specific motherboard lacks a video output, only way to test is with a discrete card of some description.

My Gigabyte Radeon R9 280 was DOA. I sent it back, and got another DOA card. Judging by the comments on Newegg, it's common for the card to not work. Your card's symptoms are the same my 2 cards', and they are part of the same series, by the same manufacturer. It's probably DOA, if you hadn't guessed already. Try RMAing it with your retailer.
