Hi all, I have a problem with my ASUS Xonar D2X sound card not being detected on my motherboard.
I have two Radeon HD6970s, one in slot 1 (PCIex16_1) and one in slot 4 (PCIex16_3) in the diagram below, with the sound card in slot 3 (PCIex16_2), both GPUs are detected but the sound card is not.
If I have the two GPUs located in slots 1 and 3, and my sound card in slot 5 (PCIex16_4), both GPUs and the sound card is detected however this leaves no room for air between the two GPUs, and I've experienced frequent crashes with this configuration. The manual does say the recommended configuration is the latter, with GPUs in slots 1 and 3.
I'm unable to use slot 6 (PCIex16_4) as my CPU cooler's (Corsair H100) radiator is located on the bottom of my case obstructing access to this slot, I would love to move this radiator somewhere else but there's no other place for it in my case, an aging but rock solid Cooler Master Stacker 830.
This is my second ASUS Maximus IV Extreme, I sent my old one in after it had a similar problem where a second GPU would not be detected if installed in slot 3 with the first GPU in slot 1. I'm reluctant to send the motherboard back again so I hope someone can shed some light on my conundrum, perhaps I've overlooked something.
