Hey all, I have a XFX Pro Series 650w semi-modular power supply and I need to run Sata power connectors to hook up to my Optical Drive, HDD and SSD.

I'm a first time builder so i'm not sure what I might be missing, but it seems like I can only plug one Sata power cable into my PSU. The cable itself has multiple Sata endings, to plug into stuff, but they don't quite reach everything I need them to. Am I missing anything ? Can Sata power connectors be plugged in elsewhere ?
Really confused about this so would appreciate some help, thanks.

Hi,

I just had a look at the specs of your PSU and they say you should have 8 SATA connectors. That will most likely be 2 cables with 4 connectors on each. Look carefully. You can use any of the sata connectors on each cable and you can use as many as you want. You can buy SATA to Molex converters but that shouldn't be necessary on a PSU like yours. If you want, post a picture of your cables and I can have a look.

Hope this helps!

Yeah, I think I get it now. I have 4 x 6 pin slots on my PSU but due to the text which says "Peripheral - IDE/SATA" underneath them I sorta thought only one of those (the end one) was for Sata connectors. Now I realise any of these can be used for Sata connectors, or at least the last two can, which is plenty. Well, I think that's it anyway.

I've still got to figure out where some other cables go, so no doubt I'll be asking something else before long. Thanks for replying though man, appreciate it.
