So i've been wanting to build a brand new computer, but it'll cost roughly $1250 and will take me about another year to get all that money. So I was wondering if in the meantime I could do a minor upgrade to my laptop that I have now. Problem is, after searching around on the internet for awhile, I can't find either of the motherboard or the power supply unit specs in my computer.
Yes, I've already gone to the manufacturer's website. They won't tell you the parts. I've even installed Belarc Advisor and it won't tell me the mobo or psu either.

Please some help! :)

A laptop does not have a PSU, it has the AC power converter that converts the 110v or 220v wall outlet power to the necessary DC voltage an amps required. There is no other power supply in the laptop.

There is only very very few times were a motherboard is upgradeable in a laptop to a different board. Usually that laptop is molded for the one specific motherboard. This is likely your board: http://www.sparepartswarehouse.com/Acer,Laptop,Part,MBRN802001.aspx

For upgrading a laptop you can add ram and/or upgrade the hard drive with an SSD drive. If you have 6gb or more of ram then you will see no gain from the memory upgrade
