What a mess...
So my computer suddenly started performing very slowly in every aspect. I go to task manager to see what's up. I click on processes and It has several instances of iexplorer.exe running using A LOT of resources. I then download hitmanpro to get rid of it. I run the scan, tells me what's on the computer that's bad. So when the scan is finished i tell hitmanpro to delete it, then it says "preparing malicious software for removal, searching for repair file for (something in system32 that was a .dll, can't remember the exact name) Then it blue screens on me, and now it only boots up to gateway recovery service. I tell it to reinstall windows and keep my files on a backup. Now when i boot it up it says

"Windows could not complete the installation. To install Windows on this compuiter, restart the installation."
Now i'm stuck in this loop. I CANNOT afford to lose my files

I apologize if this is not enough information, let me know if you need any other info

Unfortunately, and don't take this the wrong way, this is why we tell people to back up their personal files on a regular basis to an external drive or someplace other than their boot drive, and to get and install a good virus scanner as well as a good malware scanner. Here is some info to try and help but you may be past any of it being beneficial to you at this point and need to reinstall. If you have windows installation media you might be able to do a repair using that.

If you have an external hard drive or thumb drive your files will fit on you can download knoppix its a live OS on a CD . I dont know anything about linux but it's simple to save files off a damaged OS with it. After you get your files back just clean format it.

Another Option is to get a new HDD, you can get a 1TB for about $60. Load a Windows onto that. Load MS security Essentials or something similar. Download and install Malewarebytes. After all that is set up, hook your old HD up as a slave and run scans on it using both programs. With a little luck it may have cleaned it. You can then transfer your files over to the new drive and format the old one.

Alternatively once you have scanned and cleaned the old one, you can try reconnecting it as your main drive and booting from it. it might work but from the sounds of it, things were pretty badly damaged by the virus when you tried to re-install.
