Hey Guys, New to the forum want to say hello!

This will be my first time building my own PC, I want to give it a shot. I use my PC for gaming primarily but also I want to run video-editing software (ie adobe after effects). The games I play are normally heavily modded (ie ie I'd like to play skyrim fully modded in ultra quality), I also want to be able to play new games coming out in high detail... my current rig can't handle too much.

I would like to keep my current case (Antec Nine Hundred ATX) but Im thinking of upgrading everything else... This is what Im looking at getting:

- Intel Core i7-4770 Haswell CPU
- ASUS MAXIMUS VI HERO Z87 MOBO
- EVGA SuperNOVA 750W PSU
- GeForce GTX 770 4gb .... (4gb cause I like to mod my games... I hear this helps?)
- G.Skill AEGIS 16GB (2 x 8G) DDR3 .... (16gb for video editing?)
- SAMSUNG 840 EVO 2.5" TLC SSD ..... (I guess ill need a 3.5" mounting converter)

My questions are:

1) any advise on this potential build for my needs? does it look ok, is there anything that should be changed or added?

2) my case comes with two standard fans, should I invest in better cooling given the upgrade?

Thanks so much, I look forward to hearing from you!

I don't think you'll need more than 8GB, even for video editing.

I'd also recommend getting an i5 4690K instead, the i7 won't give you any noticeable improvements, and you can spend the money you save on getting a GTX 780 over a 770.

The 4690K also has an improved thermal interface over the 4770/K which results in lower temps and better overclocking potential. You will need to pair it with a Z97 motherboard though. The Z97 Hero would be perfect.

And yes, I'd suggest buying another couple of fans for your build.
Btw, nice PSU choice.... Same as what I have ;)

Also, are you going to order a hard drive too? I'd recommend a WD Blue 500GB at least.

Thanks for the answers guys!!

OK, so I've made a few changes based on your responses:

- Intel Core i5-4690K
- ASUS Z97-A (its more than 100 dollars less than the Z97 Hero... put the savings from this and CPU towards better graphics card... good idea?)
- EVGA SuperNOVA 750W PSU
- GeForce GTX 780 3gb
- G.Skill AEGIS 8GB (2 x 4G) DDR3

- SAMSUNG 840 EVO 2.5" TLC SSD I was planning on getting this as a solid state hard drive and adding in my current hard drive as extra (Samsung Spinpoint T Series 500GB SATA2 7200RPM 8.9MS 16MB 3.5IN)

As far as cooling goes maybe I will invest in a Liquid CPU Cooler. would that be sufficient in addition to my two fans?

Is it looking better?

Thanks again for the responses!!

Looks great! Id also recommend the EVO over a liquid cooler because of price. If the are sure you would like a liquid cooler I can pick out a good one for you. :)
