Hi Guys, I have just formatted my fiences VAIO laptop model number PCG-71911W
Everything went super smooth I clean installed windows of a usb boot and created a new drive for the OS.
The laptop has a 300GB harddrive.

1st - OS I have created a separate 60GB Drive for the OS which also created the 100MB recovery drive. My question is should I just run the OS off the whole 300GB drive or is it better to give it it's own portion and leave the remaining 240GB for music - photos - videos etc?

2nd - Drivers I did not backup any drivers so the laptop is really barebones only, Windows 7 Home Premium is all. the SONY website is so cumbersome I cannot find the right drivers. If anyone could point me in the right direction that would be great.

At the least get the network driver up and running, I cannot even connect the ethernet cable for the internet.

Thanks in advance.

If you need anymore information please let me know

Hi

Personally I would allocate much more space for C: windows drive

I have just had to help out an old lady who filled up C: but never used D: so system crashed during monthly Microsoft updates.

Next time get drivers before re installing Windows

Some manufacturers give their laptops two different model numbers only one of which is on the label. (just to confuse you)

You need to find out if your Windows 7 is 32 bit or 64 bit and get correct drivers

regards

Cheers Mike, I got in touch with a live chat assistant from SONY who was super helpful. The model number I supplied is the manufacturer model ID, the product ID is the actual VAIO model number >.<
Anyway I have downloaded all the drivers now for the laptop thanks!
I guess for the first question is will the OS run faster if it has it's own 60GB to play with rather than being put with all the media files, or does it not make a difference as all the drives will be on the same HDD anyway?

cheers
