Hi all! I know this might sound silly but I want to buy a motherboard and the website I want to buy them on says they have a pata connector; however, their official websites say nothing about that. I already contacted both Gigabyte and MSI but since I need a fast reply I decided to ask you guys too ^^° here are the two models I'm interested in:

MSI H97M-E35
Gigabyte GA-H97M-HD3

also, since many motherboards have internal parallel connectors, can I plug my pata-interfaced dvd reader into it somehow?

Thanks in advance!

Hi

Finding Intel socket 1155 1150 motherboards with a controller for IDE/ATA/PATA device is very rare

Parallel printer port is not parallel ATA port for old hard disks & DVD's

It would be quicker to buy new DVD writer than a PCI card with
IDE/ATA/PATA controller
(note different names for same device & port)

as you need to ensure PCI slots exist and controller supports both hard disks & optical drives

If you can use a socket 775 Core 2 motherboard you will find some with ATA controllers as well as SATA
