I have just built a new gaming PC without a network card. I have connected it to my bell 2wire modem and the speeds are very slow. For the first minute or so that I was connected to the internet, I was downloading a steam game at 700 kb/s which is what I would get on my laptop when connected to wi-fi, immediately after, I was getting around 170 kb/s. The ethernet and internet lights on the modem are constantly flickering. After calling bell, we determined that there was nothing wrong with the bell signal because my wifi-connected laptop had much better results in a speed test than my wire-connected desktop. I thought that ethernet was supposed to be much faster than wireless connections. What gives? I think it may be an issue with my desktop. I currently have google chrome, steam, killer network driver (from asus motherboard), and a driver for my gaming mouse. Is there I anything I can do that would increase the speed? Because I am sure that it is an issue on my end.
Thanks.
