I was wondering how much of a difference a dedicated sound card would make. I am currently using the MSI 970A-G46 motherboard for my audio solution.

I listen to music and game extremely often on my PC as well!

It doesn't affect performance that much. It'll give you cleaner audio but I don't think it'll be that big of a difference unless you're an audiophile or something.
Depends on what you plan on hooking up.

A AV/surround receiver, won't matter, it will be all optical or HDMI.

$20 speakers or headset, you won't notice a thing.

$400 headset, the better amps in the better soundcards can be a huge benefit, but some motherboards offer some good sound upgrades too.
