Pleaseeeeeee can someone help, im a newbie to this so please have some patience

This rig ive built over the past 2 wks and this is my first build from fresh but I have some experience in custom builds

The issue I'm having is that im trying to get the Ram to run at 2400mhz again, I say again as the system was running fine at that speed but randomly on a start up the mobo started to go into a boot loop self testing phase and would not come out of it until I pushed the MEM OK button, it would reset when the LED display got to 35 or 39, (checking the manual this is seems to be a RAM issue) I have tried the XMP profile (2 profiles 2133 & 2401) and manually inputting the numbers to get the speed back to 2400mhz but to no avail, I have selected the XMP profile that allows 2133mhz and the PC boots and runs fine, and im sure I can use this without any problems but its buggin the hell out of me why I cant get it to reboot at 2400mhz speed? I have cleared CMOS reflashed and installed the latest FW but nothing works it just continues in this endless bootlooping cycle (which btw is that safe to do??)..

as I said im new to this and OC so I haven't messed with any voltage settings I know the DRAM volt is currently 1.65 allowance but like I said it all loaded fine but now it doesn't. I have searched and searched for any tips but there doesn't seem to be anything that I can find that relates to what my problem is..

any help or advice would be great

The basic Setup
Hero Vii mobo with ROG front panel (Which has had to be returned due to the 4th digit not being displayed on the RPM LED)
intel 4790k Devils canyon
hyperx beast 32mb 2400mhz ram (Kit of 4x8mb)
asus gtx770
EVGA 850w PSU modulated
Corsair H55
8 additional fans 6 being Corsair & 2 side exhaust case fans
Samsung evo SSD
2 extra HD totalling 4TB
Windows 7 64bit Ultimate

sorry to list it all but I know people need to know as much possible regarding a system.

Is it the KHX24C11T3K4/32X set? If so let's make sure you have the latest BIOS, OC the CPU to 4.1, then enable XMP select 2400 and give it a try, if no joy same setting and look for CPUVTT, DDRVTT or the like (key is the VTT) and set it to 1.14 (that's your MC (memory controller) voltage

Hi Tradesman1,
Thanks for replying the ram is KHX24C11T3K4/32X, I have updated to the latest BIOS for the HERO VII board im 100% on that. its the following im not sure about

In the bios it displays the flowing for the CPU
Current CPU frequency 4.000ghz
target CPU frequency 4.500ghz

so I assume the CPU is at 4ghz and then raises to 4.5ghz as and when its needed? but from what I understand from your message the CPU needs to be at 4.1ghz? the bios has defaults that I can raise the ghz to 4.4, 4.6 & 4.8, what would I need to do to raise it to 4.1?

Also CPUVTT I don't have that exact name in the BIOS I have CPU Core voltage & CPU frequency voltage I cant find a setting that just says VTT

thanks again for your help

additional to this

i have now tried raising the Current
CPU frequency 4.1 & 4.2ghz & target CPU frequency 4.1 & 4.2ghz
then xmp to 2400 but no luck i moved down to 2133 leaving the CPU at 4.2. booted fine. I ran Cupid and it showed the CPU ghz at 4.0..shouldnt it be 4.2?

Thanks

since my previous post, i have tried inserting the ram one at a time into each red and blk slots... all rams work individually at 2400mz, and they all work at 16mb and at 24mb but thet dont work at 24mb when one of the ram is entered in the blk slot closest to the CPU, (Cpuid labels this slot 1) also they dont work when all 4 slots are filled at the 2400 speed they work at 2133 when all slots are filled.

i have just tried that and no luck just reboot cycle again, also i now cant get it to work with 24mb at 2400mhz this is making no sense,, do i need to up the cpu to 4.1? and if so how as its currently set at 4.0 with a target of 4.5

thanks

if u mean the cpu level up option in the bios it has 3 settings 4.4, 4.6, 4.8, which i have tried and still it doesnt load at 2400, also when in windows cpuid always shows the cpu at 4.0ghz its never the same as what its set to in the bios

They all work fine as singles, doubles and groups of 3 at 2400 it's when the last 8mb stick is added it just goes into the boot loop it works fine at 2133 at 32mb just want to make sure they don't work before sending them back ,,, they are suppose to be compatibly with the hero vii mobo and like I said they did work fine up until a cold boot

Is there no other way to test or increase voltage?

Check the DRAM Advanced timings and see where the tRFC is set to, should prob be around 314 with all 4 sticks in, else might try increasing the VCCSA just a hair, maybe to 1.0 or slightly higher, also otherwise, think I would RMA the DRAM, sounds like the sticks just don't want to play nice

hi thanks for your advice,

the DRAM tRFC was set to auto I changed this to your suggestion of 314 this made no difference (the numbers in the box beside this were 174 this is from memory as im not sat in front of my pc currently)

I increased the VCCSA with no joy :-(

So im guessing after a wk of research into this problem theres no other choice than return them,, they work absolutely fine at 32gb 2133mhz but obviously they should be able to work at 32gb 2400mhz as it previously did, I have checked and they are compatible with the hero vii mobo and the 4790k. but just not at 32gb they work at 8,16 sometimes 24,,

obviously theres not much difference between the speeds but they were quite expensive so it would be nice for them to work at the speed they should,, im wondering now if its the mobo or cpu issue

totally stumped

thanks for your help

The plot thickens... Running more tests and have found the the follow the dimm slot A2 (red slot closet to the cpu) can not run at 2400 when all slots are filled..... Now add this to the mix when there is only one ram in the board that's connected to slot A2 it runs at 2400 just fine!!! ?!?!?!?!?!?! Any ideas?

Update
Working at
A2 8gb
B2 8gb
16gb @ 2400mhz

Thanks

I have previous loosened and tighten the cooler,, but why would it still work at 2133 if the cooler was loose or to tight??

I have a corsair h55

Also the last code to appear on the mobo before resetting is 03 system agent initialisation before microcode loading
This is very brief before it resets tho
