I am currently looking to upgrade my GTX 660 to a better card. I have a 675 W PSU which would be a problem w/ the 290. I can get the 290 on NewEgg for about 390 and the 770 Classified on Amazon for 410. I am just wondering if it is worth it to buy a larger Watt PSU and the 290 than just the 770 and keep my PSU that I have now? Thanks, Ace.

well, the r9 290 is a lot more powerful gpu so I'd get the r9 290 and a new psu.

The heck are you smoking people? 675W PSU is more than enough for 290...

It only may be an issue if PSU is made by some shit noname vendor... So just tell us what PSU model you have there.

PSU is fine, depends on manufacturer really, but the r9 290's performance is about 780 level, so yea

770 doesn't have chance vs r9 290 because 290 match gtx 780... 675W good PSU is enough for r9 290 because my friend have cooler master 650W.

To clarify,yes,675w is enough to run the 290 without a problem, but extensive overclocking would bring the PSU to it's limits, which isn't ideal no matter how you look at it.I would say keep the psu and buy the 290 for certain, but overclock in moderation and don't forget to get a new PSU when you wish to upgrade your graphics card or get another one for Crossfire.

Do you have this model, Toughpower XT 675W as your PSU or is it a different one?
If it is Toughpower XT 675W, it should be fine. If your power supply is almost 7 year or more old, i would retire it and get a new psu.
