Since 4K has 4X the number of pixels that translates to 1080p at up to 240FPS I guess which no monitor yet supports so 144Hz for sure.
(This is ignoring any audio but that would be fairly minor.)
*WARNING:
Your graphics card AND your monitor would have to support HDMI 2.0. For example, I have a 2560x1440 monitor via DP or DVI, but if I use HDMI (version 1 is all I have) I only support up to 1920x1080 through that.
I suspect most/all monitors that are 144Hz only support 1080p through the HDMI input as well.
This is probably a dumb question, so I am going to be purchasing this HDMI 2.0 Cable http://bit.ly/1nSPhFB, though I have seen HDMI 2.0 for $70 http://bit.ly/UAIgMZ. Is the GearIT legit?

There's no actual distinction for an HDMI 2.0 cable. Pick a length http://
