My 2007 Professional Product key is rejected when I try to activate it

I purchased Windows Professional 2007 sofware with my new Dell computer. When I try to activate it, it asks for a product key which I entered. The response comes back that this is not a valid key for MS 2013. Is there a work around?

Are you entering the key on the underside of the laptop or the side of the PC? That's probably a Windows key, not Office.

So, which is it, 2007 or 2013. You first say 2007 and then say 2013. What are you trying to activate? Windows operating system or Microsoft office?

It almost sounds as if you are trying to enter a Office 2007 Pro key into Office 2013 Pro.. Which won't work you need to enter it into Office 2007 Pro.
