Hey guys I wanted to know if I had a good or bad processor. I want to upgrade my graphics card but feel like my processor is holding me back on most of the mid range cards like gtx 750 and stuff. My processor is the Intel core(tm)2 cpu 4300 @ 1.80ghz. Please let me know if I can buy the 750 gtx with this processor without causing a huge bottleneck.
Thank you for your replies.

That card is normally capable of playing most of those games at near ultra settings at 1080p so it should be a decent upgrade. Just note if you don't see a major speed increase in a particular game it is likely due to your CPU holding you back in that game. Otherwise I don't know much about the company Zotac so hopefully someone else with more experience with Nvidia's GPU brands can chime in but from what I have seen of reviews for that card have been generally positive.

But anyways yes it would be a good upgrade.
There will be a bottleneck for sure, if not due to the graphics card itself, then due to modern games stressing your CPU at maximum, since most of them prefer at least 4 cores. What is the exact model of your motherboard? It might support Core 2 Quad processors, and they are much better for gaming, if you can get one for cheap.

Depending on your current GPU you should get a nice speed upgrade in games, but yes that CPU is really slow for today's standards and will be a bottleneck in a lot of games. Although if you are slowing upgrading depending on your current GPU a GPU upgrade now will likely lead to better results in games than upgrading your CPU first.

My motherboard model is msi ms-7241. I had upgraded to a r7 240 but that didn't really speed up games and only increased fps by like 10-15. So I decided to try the gtx 750. Hopefully it will run better. I don't really play many games except online mmorpg's like WOW, RS, and a bit of LOL. Would these games run fine on medium graphics on my pc after upgrading to the gtx 750? By the way thank you for replying.

Compared to the R7 240 it is a large jump and should increase Framerates considerably. Although a CPU upgrade would still be useful. It seems given your motherboard the fastest CPU is the Core 2 Extreme X6800. So unfortunately you won't be able to upgrade to a quad-core with that motherboard.

Hey caqde thanks for replying so quick. I don't think I'll be able to upgrade my cpu at the moment but do you think it would still be good for me to upgrade the graphics card?
