Master/slave drive help

Since this will be my first build, I've taken many precautions on what I'm doing. For that reason, I need to make sure what the deal is with this master/slave drive thing I keep hearing about. I've heard it's something to do with the HDD/SSD. What is it, and is it important to when building a PC?

It is only important with older ATAPI (IDE) drives, where 1 of the drives on the cable has to be configured as "master" by means of a jumper on the drive itself, while the other has to be set as "slave". They supported 2 drives per 1 cable. Modern SATA drives are auto configured and you don't need to do anything.
