i have 3gb ram but in computer properties it showing only 2.75gb usable

It allocates soem to eg integrated graphics. That's normal. You need to get more ram anyway. 2gb plus 1gb won't always work properly.

one stick might not be any good. you might be using odd sticks instead of pairs.

If all 4 are identical, then one isn't working. Check its in the dimm slot properly and use Memtest 86.

Hi, that is very likely a problem with your BIOS. See if you have a BIOS update for your motherboard.
I had exactly the same problem on an ASUS motherboard and even though I had win 8 64 bit I could only see 2.75gb RAM.
I flashed the BIOS to the latest version and now I can see 8gigs.

Try going to your motherboard's manufacturers website and download the latest BIOS and follow instruction on how to update your BIOS.
