I usually play movies via VLC right before I go to sleep, and just leave it running. And maybe onlineclock.net for alarms.
First time this happened. I woke up before the alarm buzzes, the movie sound is still there but the screen has led back-lit. It's not completely black like the one you see on a turned off monitor. It has a back-lit but no display. Tried alt-tabbing, shaking the mouse and basically pressing any keys. System won't wake in this weird "sleep". Checked all power options even hybrid sleep. Everything is set to disabled and never.
My k/b num lock keys are on too but isn't responsive. My mouse optics reacts when I lift it. It dims its leds/laser eye.
My solution to this is restart the whole system with the reset button. It reboots and stops to where you're asked to start windows normally.
And it's booting up unusually slow.
