Hi community again :)

I recently (yesterday) boght a SSD. A Samsung 840 evo 250gb to be specific.
I planned to use it as the primary and only Storage in my laptop (Samsung 870z5e).
Laptop-Specs:
i7 3635QM (2.4-3.4ghz)
ati 8870m
1tb hdd
12 gb ram 1600mhz
oh and i'm using windows 8.1

Since it's the first time I do something like this I didn't exactly know, how to get all my data from the hdd to the ssd. I just downloaded the migration-software from samsung and thought I could copy it.
Unfortunately I could'nt buy the notebook-edition from the ssd, so I have no sata-to-usb-bridge and just removed one of my external Hdds from its case and put the ssd in.
In the partition-management-thing I can see the ssd and the migration-software also recognizes it, but it won't clone from the hdd and says stuff like "connection to external storage lost" (translated from german, dont know what it would be in eng).

What I did so far etc:
Removed some stuff from the hdd, so now only 107gb is used.
Cleaned temporary files etc.
updated everything
deleted all partitions that the samsung-software created (as recovery)... but I can't remove them completely ...

I hope you can understand what I wrote and excuse me for my horrible english.
Thank you for the (hopefully) incoming answers! :)
