Recently on Minecraft I have been getting 120 fps, I updated my graphics card driver and then it takes it down to 30-40 fps.

I clicked on the bottom right hand corner ( windows 7 ) near the clock and tried to open up Nvidia Control Panel. It gives the error message which is in the title and I think that something has gone wrong. Can someone help me get the right fps back?

Also my graphics card is a GTX 650.

Revert back to previous drivers.

Go download the drivers you had previously, You can find them on www.nvidia.com get the version that was 2 versions ago as i think a new driver came out yesterday.

Run new drivers using the Nvida experience utility it will automatically uninstall and reinstall drivers reboot see if that solves your issue.

or see if you can dl the latest ones and that may fix it as well.

One other thing to keep in mind if you are using that nVida utility there is a feature where it automatically sets your in game settings it may have bumped them up or added options that you had previously turned off. Playing with graphics settings in game may solve your problem as well.

It sounds like a cable has been moved possibly. You dont have to open the case to do that. It is the cable going from the monitor to the back of the computer. It would appear you have On board video as well as the card. Is it possible the cable from the monitor is plugged into the onboard video and not the video card itself?

Ive not changed socket for the monitors so I dont think that could be the reason

Look at the back of your computer. Is the cable from the monitor plugged into a port near all of the other ports like USB Ethernet port things like that.

Or is it plugged into a thin slot with nothing but video type ports?

yeah nothing is pluged in there it is all in the other dvi port

Switching the MOnitor cable from where it is to the thin slot will not only improve your gaming experience it should also solve that error message. As long as they are compatible ports ie DVI/VGA/HDMI Then the new drivers will work as well.

However dont go yanking at it most of the time they are screwed into the port with little twist screws on the cable. Just move from where it is to where the arrow is on that pic. But do this when computer is off then reboot should be fine.
