Guys plz help , i got my new gpu today the 730gt (i know that it is a bad gpu but hey it is good enough for me) and put it on the x16 pci slot , but when i open gpu-z it says it is in the pci x8 slot
what do i do to fix this??

and im having problems with making the fan move , ive run a test in furmake and the temp gone up to 85 cuz the fan was not moving

It won't affect your performance either way since the 730gt will not even come close to saturating an 8x slot, let alone a 16x slot. Just make sure the video card is installed in the PCI-e slot closest to the CPU, and as long as you are only running one video card the slot should be 16x.

to tell the truth that's what i was thinking , anyway i fixed the gpu fan not moving too , i wanted only to ask since im only angry at the company who sold me this since i could have gotten something 10E less , same gpu only x8 pci
ohh and yeah im thinking of tanking this gpu core clock from 900 to 1000 , would that make any diff and what app should i use for the stress test
thanks

Furmark is what most people use to test overclock stability for video cards, but the program puts an unrealistic load on the graphics card and could damage the card itself. 3Dmark is a good program to test stability as well, and would be closer to a typical game load.

It would be a good idea to have the latest drivers either way, but if you have beta driver(non whql) installed then 3dmark will tell you to update your drivers.

i updated the driver and still got a error in 3dmark 11 it says /
Workload Single init returned error message: DXGI call IDXGISwapChain::SetFullscreenState failed:

The requested functionality is not supported by the device or the driver.

DXGI_ERROR_NOT_CURRENTLY_AVAILABLE

ive fixed it , stupid prb , i was not able to run the test in center mode but in strech mode i can , anyway do you know a good app to stress test the gpu after overclock , i want to see if i can take this up to 1000 core , im using funmark but people say on forums that it only test your gpu cooler and only creates heat

The heaven benchmarks are good, the 3d marks are good, and pretty much any game that has it's own built in bench tool. Understand that some games may be stable and others may not like the overclock and have issues. In which case you would be looking to drop the clocks back a tiny bit at a time until the issues went away. You will want stability in all aspects I assume, so go with the overclock that works for every game you play.
