2GB GPU only using 250MB

So, just built a custom PC for a client who wants to be able to play flight simulator. At first (using only in built graphics), the sim played fairly well, but wasn't perfect. As a result of this, and his budget, we purchased a 2GB DDR3 ASUS graphics card. After installation, the game plays worse and the graphics monitoring system says it's only using 250mb. Why is this? And how do I get it to use more?

Thank you

That is a lowest of low video cards, you can't expect anything more than poor performance out of it. It is not any better than iGPU you have in Haswell CPUs, it's actually worse even.

Nothing you can do about it.

This card is only good for HTPCs IF the CPU there has no iGPU or a really old iGPU. It is simply never meant to be used in gaming.

What graphic card specifically? Pretty much any graphics card that uses DDR3 is junk... Its low performance is probably more to do with that, than the lack of vram usage.

If its an old flight sim, then 250mb video ram consumption sounds about right.

The 250mb vram usage is not the problem, using that card.

Thats more of a HTPC card, and although FSX isnt a demanding game, a £30 used gtx 460 would perform about 10x better.
