ok i'm very confused between
i7-4790 without cooler and thermaltake smart se 730w bronze
or
fx 8350 + v6gt cpu cooler oc'd to 4.8 and zalman 850w bronze gvm series
i will use the pc in gaming ..
a lot of people told me that the i7 won't make diff in gaming
and it's good in video rendering etc ..
so i think the fx 8350 will be more than enough for hardcore gaming
and i will overclock to 4.8 ghz ( or more ) the cooler is amazing and the psu is better .

The 4GHz stock 4790 will beat the 8350 even if you put it at 4.8 GHz. Also, a lot of games currently only use up to 4 threads - and this is where the I7 decimates the 8350. The I7 uses less power and produces less heat as well. Also, depending on your video card - you wont need more than 550/650W of PSU. Better buy a good and solid 500W PSU, than a mediocre 850W PSU. PSUs are not all about watts. What video card will you be running?

o_O the i7 is only 3.6 ghz
vapor x r9 280x

maybe it needs less power and it produces less heat
but ..
i will get an amazing cooler that will make the fx 8350
much cooler than the i7
and a 850w so it can draw whatever it want
i will get super cpu cooler and better psu
still cheaper than the i7 o_O
weired ha ?

Eshtery 4690 weh mate2la2sh ^^ The 4690 should work better in most games. Ocing isn't really necessary, and yeah try to get a good PSU. Don't know if you can find any for a good price in Egypt though. 650W should be more than enough.

boodyhegab,

The I7 4770k is 3.5 Ghz with up to 3.9 GHz turbo.
http://ark.intel.com/products/75123/Intel-Core-i7-4770K-Processor-8M-Cache-up-to-3_90-GHz

The I7 4790k is 4.0 GHz with up to 4.4 GHz turbo
http://ark.intel.com/products/80807/Intel-Core-i7-4790K-Processor-8M-Cache-up-to-4_40-GHz

A 4.8 (if you are lucky) 8350 is not coming close to the 4GHz 4790k. Regardless - streaming and gaming and whatever-you-wish. The 4790K will last several years longer.

Also - the fact that your CPU runs on less degrees does not mean that it produces less heat. Heat is measured in watts of heat, as in volume. 1L of 50C water contains more heat than 1/2L of 70C

Regarding the PSUs - both of them are rated as mediocre. The Zalman GVN is made by Sirtek and Thermaltake Smart Se 730 is made by CWT - none of the designs are outstandingly good. There were good words about the Thermaltake, but there are no reviews about the Zalman. If your statement that the Zalman is the better PSU is solely based on wattage - well wattage is the least important thing when it comes to how good a PSU is.

Regardless - it is your choice. But do yourself a favor and pick one of the PSUs that were mentioned here.
