upgrading mobo with current cpu from Gateway DX-4860

I need help in trying to figure out about a mobo upgrade for my DX-4860 UB020P. I would like to use the current cpu that's on the mobo that came with unit. but I was told that it wouldn't work because it is a proprietary to the the unit ion question. You are about to open a can of worms... For what it's worth the money you are going to spend on a new Mother board and CPU you might as well go ahead and get a new case and build a new computer all together.
