Hey guys,

I've been having an issue with my PC ever since I upgraded my CPU, It's not affecting the system but it's rather annoying. When I press the power button to turn on my PC, the lights and fans will come on for about a second and then it'll turn off, then about 3 - 5 seconds later it'll turn itself back on and just boot up like normal.
I don't know why it's done this but I was hoping someone could shed some light on this and maybe give me a solution to the problem.

Josh

I was having the same issue, and after much research, I've discovered a few possible resolutions;

1. It's a short caused by the metal hexagonal nuts being in places not required. Check for this
2. Your CPU power cable is loose
3. There's a short caused by molex, sata, and/or fan connectors (try unplugging them all, see if the problem persists)
4. CPU heatsink isn't seated properly. Reseat it (apply new paste, too)

I tried all of these at once, switched on, and no boot stutter. If this fails, attempt to "bread board" and see if the problem still persists. Report back!

Are you using a stock or aftermarket cooler?

Try reinstalling the cooler , sometimes when they aren't quite flush with the CPU you get this issue.

I ended up just taking apart the whole computer, dusting it out and then putting it together and making sure the cabling is neat and tidy, the issue seems to be resolved, thank you anyways guys you've been a great help

Sometimes an off balanced cooler install causes this.
