Yeah I wouldn't do it either. You could sell your 660 for a hundred bucks and buy a completely new one. With warranty and all additional cables + free games. Completely not worth it at all.
Eh, if it was a new 280x it would be about worth it, but not necessarily used. I think adding $100 would be a more equivalent trade, as you can get a 280x new for around $260:

GPU benchmarks. If you have specific games you play (preferably newer) you can check how they perform at various settings with various cards. Google has all the answers. Theres even a "best GPU for x amount of money" every month here.
Do NOT use sites like GPUboss or similar. Go look at actual reviews of the cards that feature real-world benchmarks of the same games, and watch gameplay videos. The 7950 is a bit lower than the 280x, and would actually be right about in the middle between the 280x and 660.
