The PCI Express x1 wireless adapter will work in that PCI Express x16 slot. Unless it's already populated.

As to it fitting, it depends on how wide that backplate is in correlation to the width of your case.

As others have said, the card has to have a low profile bracket availible for it. Your htpc case use half helight (low profile) cards only, look at this picture

With that said you will be better off using a powerline network adapter over wifi for anything like gaming that requires ping/low latency

it possible to know if the adapter is going to fit before actually purchasing it? All the specifications of the case are listed in the page I've posted earlier, would that be useful?

Need one with a LP bracket.
Could you please link me the page of a fitting one? Even just the model would be helpful, so that I can find it on Amazon....

I'm not going to use the computer for anything intensive like hardcore gaming. Since it will be an HTPC, its main use will be streaming media over WiFi, maybe some light gaming but nothing too extreme.
I'm really not the sure if this whole PCI WIFI adapter is worth it, I'm starting to think I'd be better off getting a simple WIFI USB dongle...

EDIT: The model SR-71 Blackbird suggested me seems to be perfect. Thanks a lot.
