gaming setup ~1500

Solution
I personally find the overclocking part fun, which is why I would pick the i5, but the xeon will be better for video editing, 3d rendering and other tasks that use more threads, while being just as good for gaming . So it's really up to you.

looks good :) get gskill ripjaws ram (same price but i know its good ram) and for 20$ more for your case i would also get a corsair obsidian 750D. Its a full tower so you have lots of room, good cable managment, and better airflow. and get an xfx 550w PSU its slightly cheaper and 550w is enough power.

Well yes, the second part list with the i5, the xeon partlist had an h97. ^^ But anyway, if you're getting the i5, get a cpu cooler, if you're overclocking you need one.

And you don't need more fans, put the money towards a CPU cooler. The 500R has great airflow so you shouldn't worry about that.

yeah.. but i have to learn it first;) so i'll overclock after one year maybe..
what is wrong with h97 with xeon?
i decided i won't use 2 extra fans.. i don't like noisy pc;) i will have 9 fans in my build without extra fans o_O
what about monitor? is IPS monitor worth it's money?

Nothing is wrong with the h97 with xeon, it's more powerful than the i5-4690K if you run it at stock or with a slight OC and it has hyperthreading which some games might benefit from in the future, as for now only crysis 3 and another game I can't recall the name of support it.
An IPS monitor would be worth the extra money for me personally, but just because I prefer having a nice image, with good color reproduction, rather than very fast response times and 120Hz. A good IPS panel though, can have decent response times, but you have to do some research, if you can give me your budget and requirements for the monitor, I could help you out.

Did you read what I wrote in my post before posting that? And of course the i5 is better for overclocking, the Xeon can't overclock... You would get faster frequencies from the i5 if you OC, but the things that would benefit from that, would benefit just as much from hyperthreading (and that wouldn't be for gaming). As for gaming, the difference between these two processors, at least for now, is marginal.

You can get a decent cooler like a hyper 212 Evo for about 25 euros, and it comes with good thermal paste. But the Xeon as I said so many times, is a very good option, if you're not going to overclock. Even with overclocking the i5 wouldn't beat the Xeon in most applications where that frequency difference would matter.

if you want to over clock in the future its goods to have the option. I didnt OC when i first got my build but later down the road i wanted to OC. The xeon is the same performance as the i5 4690k

You keep saying the same thing... And you're right, Ocing does benefit you on a processor like yours, but with these two processors, games won't utilize all of the processing power they can offer.

Like i said its good for the future. Newer games are going to start utilizing more cores on cpu and using more cpu power so having the ability in the future is nice to have

Edit** i know they have the same amount of cores
