Pairing two 4 gb ram to 8 gb ram in dual channel?

I currently have 8gb ram and i found someone selling two 4gb ram really cheap.
Is it possible to run 3 of them on dual channel? What configuration?
Im using ASRock 970 extreme 3

No it isn't... dual channel, you need matching pairs of RAM sticks

No, There is dual, tri, and quad channel. Most CPU's only can use dual, and you need two matching RAM sticks for that. Sorry man.

It's possible, but there's no guarantees that the sticks will play nice, if you were to try will want the 4GB sticks in slots 1-2 from Cpu to fully occupy that channel with 8 GB then put your 8GB sstick in slot 3 to have 8GB in channel B, Intel calls this flex mode and have been using it for years (all 8GB will operate in dual channel), AMD has a similar approach in many of their mobos, though I'm not positive on this one....will probably also need to add about ).07 to the DRAM voltage and + 0.10 (maybe more to the CPU/NB voltage
