Hi, I have got a confirmed dead PSU.

it's a Corsair CX750M , I purchased it around a year ago.

I purchased it off of Amazon and am wondering what the best way to return the product for a replacement would be?

Straight to Corsair,Through Amazon?

I do have a third option of replace it with a better PSU but i don't think my PC spec needs it.

my spec:

FX-8320
AMD 7870
8GB RAM ( can't remember maker )
1TB HDD , some samsung

Depends where you live in the world.

I can vouch for Amazon UK. Seriously, they will refund/return products providing they're within the stated warranty period for that product.
I've had them collect a broken monitor from my doorstep the next day and ship out an identical model first class for free.... yup.
Never had a complication returning to them, returned many things.

I always go through the live chat function, because I'm an impatient bastard, they do like to hide their customer service area as best they can, but you'll find it eventually.

As for Corsair returns, I currently have my first return to them shipping off to the Netherlands. I had to pay to return it, whereas with Amazon I did not. That's a bad point alone...

I have seen so many people having issues with CX series PSUs in these forums lately!
I'd recommend going through Amazon first and asking if you could upgrade to a better quality PSU such as an XFX, Seasonic, EVGA B2 or G2, or a AX, HX, TX, CS or RM series Corsair. If they only offer to replace it with a new CX750M, try your luck with Corsair :D

How can you return it through Amazon? Thought you only had a month to return something. And yeah, I bought that same power supply weekend before last from Best Buy and returned it within days - pretty out of control capacitor squeal/coil whine (or something high pitched and irritating).

Hi,

This is how I do it in my country (India)

1. Call Corsair toll free no.
2.Describe the problem and ask for a replacement.
3. If they agree with the RMA on phone (usual case with memory and SSD), you can courier your hardware to them or drop it to their service center. They give you a RMA#. You get your replacement by courier. If they want to inspect for a physical damage etc.. you go to their service centre and they check if your unit is eligible for RMA..

4. You get your replacement by courier, or you can pick it up from the service centre.

So first step would be to call the Corsair support and talk to them.

We'll see how things go from here on out.
I would imagine it's due to their business model as to the reason Amazon don't give much of a crap, I believe Costco share a similar model.

As for the supply, I would certainly recommend investing in a higher model. Obviously I recommend the AX line from Corsair, being based on a SeaSonic platform (Not to be confused with the AXi series), but they are a little out of most price ranges, at least for a PSU. CoolerMaster do some decent supplies at the top end also.
Personally, despite being a fairly low-end supply, due to its wattage value I don't think that system is going to be over-stressing things too much. You should be able to get away with it.

That Corsair return cost me 9 quid the other day. Because apparently first class from the post office here in the UK is also a total rip off.
