High memory usage?

Is it normal to have 38% mem usage at idle with just google chrome open?

Why are there so many instances of Chrome open? I'd guess that could be your extra usage culprits.

Depends on how many tabs you have open with chrome. Chrome basically opens a new process for each tab so it can be a memory hog.

Is 1gb around normal? Also, what are average cpu temps. (mine is around 30-35c at idle)

1gb is spot on for windows idle at startup. 30-35c also seem entirely normal for a cpu idle / low load on pretty much any air cooler.

I'd say your system is functioning totally normally.
