Imac G3 1999 will not boot up

Hi i have just got an imac 1999 system g3 from a friend who didnt need it anymore he said that he wasent sure if it worked or not and i was positive that it did until i just have attempted to boot it up now and when i connect the power cord and press the on button there is no start up charm or any LED lights the CRT monitor just fuzzles and yeah, it just dosent want to start up, i also need to use the system for some work at college, would there be a way to get this thing going or is it a logic board error

1999? What do you do at college? A "history of computer science?" course. That thing won't do any useful work by today's standards and your friend was probably right when he said it wasn't working anymore.
