Hello, I built my first gaming rig 2-3 years ago and it's met and exceeded my expectations. At the time of the build I was in to games like W.o.W., Rift, Neverwinter etc. I'm now more in to the survival MMO genre and mainly play DayZ, 7d2d, Rust and a few others from Steam. Just wanted some thoughts on any decent and relatively affordable upgrades. I'm looking to stay in the "AMD budget build" category. I know there are similar forums here but wanted to be spec. specific. My initial thought was a GPU upgrade. Any help is very appreciated. Here's my current build...

CPU: AMD FX 4100 quad core 3.6ghz http://
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti http://
PSU: Corsair CX430 w http://
MoBo: Asus M5A78L-M LX plus http://
Memory: 8g DDR3 (unsure of brand)

I would say to upgrade your GPU but honestly your computer seems good enough for the time being. Maybe an R9 270 or something like that?

What's your budget? Maybe an SSD is the next thing you should buy

Go for the R series from AMD or GTX 760 or Higher. Just remember that you will need a bigger PSU then.

What's your budget OP? If you are looking to upgrade your GPU, you'll need a fair $200. If you're looking to upgrade your CPU, you'll need around $150 ish. If you're looking for an SSD, a 256 GB will cost you $100 - $120/30. I personally would recommend the SSD as it doesn't require any other upgrades like PSU, and you don't have to make anything in your system obsolete, since your HDD can still be use for storage.

I have a $200-$250 budget and I'll have that again in a couple weeks. I'm really looking for upgrades that'll give me another 2-3 years of decent performance.

I strongly suggest you hold off on upgrading now, or buy an SSD. If you upgrade your GPU, you will probably need to upgrade your PSU as well since 430W is not good enough.

I think the gaming world with change heavily in that time fold.
With 200-250...I'm not sure.
A 750Ti is like 150.
But I'm not familiar with low level entry cards.

spend $290, get a $230 GTX 760 from EVGA, get 600W PSU from good brand like Corsair, Seasonic, Antec, etc. That will allow for future upgrades as well.

Thanks for the quick replies everyone. Think I'm going to go with the GTX 760 from EVGA/600W PSU combo Shadowblade2652 suggested and an SSD. I read nothing but good things about the GTX 760 from EVGA. Thanks again!
