Disc Boot Failure After Lightning Strike

Solution
It's quite possible the strike damaged your hard drive.

Using another system, download this software, burn it to a CD (if you have Windows 7, just put a blank disk in the drive and right-click the downloaded file then select "burn to disk"). Then insert that disk into the system that isn't booting , start it with that disk in the drive and run the hard drive test. If it doesn't boot right away, you may need to press a key to enter the Boot menu (often F12, can be a different key depending on the system manufacturer. If there's a message on startup that says "Press xxx for boot menu, press that key).
