Hello,

My brothers computer makes a high pitched continious beep when he turns on the audio. This was a few days ago not the case! When he puts in his headphones the beep is coming through them and when he uses his speakers the beep is coming from the speakers.

The specs for his pc are: i3 530 cpu, xfx Radeon HD 6850, HKC USP-5550 550W PSU. atm I dont know what motherboard he has but i'll find out in a while.

What is the cause of this noise and how can it be fixed!!!

Uninstall, then re-install the sound card drivers. If that doesn't work, try re-seating the sound card in the motherboard. If the sound is integrated with the motherboard, you may want to try a pci-e based expansion sound card or consider replacing the mobo.

If you did not recently upgrade sound drivers, it is likely that your sound card is fried.
