I know its a pretty old system with the 3000+ CPU,but my friend wants to buy a new GPU,and since I;m selling the GT 430,I thought i would sell him that card. But i read that the 3000+ would bottleneck the 430.

So thats my question:
Will an AMD Sempron/Athlon 64 3000+ bottleneck the MSI GeForce GT 430 GPU?

I need help fast,so all answers will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance :D  :)

What is he using now for a GPU? The CPU is older, but we need more info.

Hes using an ATI Radeon 9550. I know its an AGP GPU,but hes gonna get a new mobo that has PCIe and has socket 754 for the Athlon/Sempron 64 3000+

3000+ should not bottleneck gt 430. There are on the same performance tier: not much at all.

Buying a new system and moving UP to S754? No offense, but this is a poor move. Needs to get to something really modern to be worth it. I'd keep looking if I were him.

He doesnt care about gaming and he doesnt do a lot of it. A lot of the games he plays can run smoothly on the setup he has at the moment.
I just want to see if the AMD Sempron/Athlon 64 3000+ will bottleneck the 430...
He just wants to refresh his pc with some newer components

Right, so what we are saying is buy a new chipset with a new processor. Don't waste money on an outdated platform if you don't already have PCIe slots available.
