When I first plugged it in, the drivers were installed properly, but I can't get the installation to pop up. I can find the hard drive in the Devices and Printers section, but not My Computer. I've attempted to go to Disk Management, which looks like this. I'm not quite sure what to do from here. I also went to cmd, diskpart and then tried to assign a drive letter to the volume, but my external hard drive isn't listed in there. I only see this. The 452 GB is my laptop, and I don't see the external hard drive, which should be around that same amount.

If anyone knows how to maybe jumpstart the installation, or how to restore the external hard drive so that I can do that, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Have you tried to assign a drive letter in Disk Management? Right click on the drive in question to see the options.

Yeah I tried that. All of my options are grayed out. This is the top option, and this is for the one underneath that.

If there is no data on the drive you could try deleting all of the partitions/volumes on that drive and then creating a new volume.

Ok so just hit delete volume on that second one? And then try and create a new one?

Yes, delete all volumes on that drive and create a new volume.

That did it. Thank you so much man. I don't know this kind of stuff on the computer so I have to rely on forums when I need help. For real, you just made my day. My laptop's hard drive is kinda sketchy and I need to back everything up ASAP.
