Help with optical and HDD!

Hello all,
I and trying to figure out what I'm supposed to plug into both the HDD and optical drive to power them. I know I'm supposed to use the sata cable to connect to the motherboard, but what powers them? Something from the psu?? Thanks for the help and sorry for the dumb question.

Hey! Assuming you have a SATA hdd, you'll have to use a SATA power connector (basically this: http://www.proprofs.com/api/ckeditor_images/sata.jpg). Now, I'm led to believe this is what essentially powers the HD, since it comes from the PSU.
