If you want to erase the HDD, the simplest way would be to boot some OS' install disk, delete partitions, create a new one and if you want a reasonably secure wipe, do a full-format instead of a quick one.

Does your laptop have a recovery partition on your hard disc to allow you to revert it back to how it was when it left the factory? Some also have programs preloaded to allow you to make recovery discs that will wipe all user data and reinstall factory data too.

Do you have Windows installation media like a recovery partition, a Windows disc or USB device with the Windows installation files on it? Are you trying to completely erase everything on the hard drive and then reinstall or just wipe the drive blank to use for other storage purposes?

Actually, if you want to whip a computer, us a BFH, and hit it really, really hard. They usually give up after that.

If you want to whip a computer as in whipped cream, you can try a Blendtec blender. Will it blend?
