What Hardware Component is The OS Tied to?

Hi, i was wondering where windows 7 is tied to, im building a new computer which means a new motherboard, same cpu, same gpu and the same hdd. i would like to know if this means i will have to buy a new copy of windows 7 pro or not? i heard alot people saying that it is tied to the motherboard?

MS uses some formula to determine when Windows needs to be reactivated. Changing the MB will likely trigger a reactivation and if needed, call the number MS provides you and go thru the phone prompts(I've reactivated several times as I frequently upgrade). A few times, my reactivation request was handled over the net.
