My current motherboard is a 78lmt-s2, the image shows my current motherboard http://i.imgur.com/uHvFlmW.jpg should I buy a new one or is it something that i can fix.
an family member gave me it he didnt tell my how, so is there a way i can fix it or i should use it?
I don't see how you could use it. And replacing the socket assembly isn't something the end user can do. You could contact Gigabyte and ask them what it would cost for repair: http://www.gigabyte.com/support-downloads/support-downloads.aspx
But I suspect with shipping, it will be more than a new board.
Now that I look at your pic a little closer, it appears the entire top half of the socket assemble is gone. That explains what I thought were the pins holes being plugged. That is the inside of the socket.
