As the title says the CPU cooler was working fine and some time ago it started spinning like crazy

The cooling setting in the BIOS is set on Manual (090) and It should spin at about 1200rpm

Few months ago it started spinning like crazy it goes 1200rpm than 2000 than 3000 than drops at 2500 and so on....

It's really weird... Works perfectly at ~1200 rpm for lets say a week and suddenly it goes with random speeds 1200; 3000; 2000; 2500........ :??:

I doubt about the fan... My question is, is it the motherboard or the PSU or maybe something else?

I posted video on YT

Any idea what can It be?

Im worried if it's the PSU not a big deal but if its the motherboard I'll have to buy new one and since this one is old using ddr2 RAM It's nonsense to buy old generation MB

and than its the new cpu socket which comes with new cpu and ddr3 memory.... it's a whole new pc :pfff:

Sometimes the readings of rpm's dance but its not actually happening. Are you physically hearing the fan spin up? Also, download a program called CPUID HWMONITOR and see how your temps are doing.

One time i had a computer that was doing this and it was because the thermal paste needed to be replaced. The fan had to work extra hard to make up for the fact i had really old thermal paste.

I would start off with moving the fan from manual to auto and see if that fixes it. If not try flashing your bios to the latest bios update form your manufacturer. If all that doesnt work you can pull the MB battery and reset to factory defaults. If all that doesnt work id replace the fan. If that doesnt work...take a hammer to it.
