Like the title states, I'm up on trying the Kraken G10 for my HD 7950 (almost reference - MSI).

I have seen reviews and all, so everything is just perfect, I'll buy the Kraken, get a Corsair H55 and hook it up.

The bigger question is that we need a shim for the HD 7950 and what size should the shim be?

Will this be okay?

15 X 15 at 0.8mm..? or should I go for something smaller or larger?

This is taking a considerable investment which is okay for an experiment but I need to know before I jump in..

and hopefully it supports GTX 800 series..

Thanks a lot.. :)

The corsair cooler block sits straight on the gpu. In fact you want to NOT have a shim. Just use thermal paste.

Thanks.. But I'm not from the USA.. I know they do Int'l shipping, but somehow they do not cut for me coz the shipping costs are more than the actual product costs..

I do not need a shim?? that's new.. can you please be more specific like is it the corsair products that do not need a shim or something like that? coz I seen that reviewers only used NZXT products and they needed a shim.. and both are manufactured by acetek if i'm not wrong..

yes, the cooler block will sit just straight on the GPU.. (poor components like memory..) however, I'm up on using the Arctic Silver 5 for it..

FrozenCPU ships internationally. Also you'd need some sort of passive cooling for other components on the GPU for more stable clocks. Gelid GC Extreme, I believe is the most recommended thermal paste currently as well.

Where you from. The Kraken instructions don't ask for a shim. Where do you get that from? The Kraken is only to hold the block and a fan on.

India.. The website states : http://www.nzxt.com/product/detail/138-kraken-g10-gpu-b...

Quote:
Compatibility Nvidia : GTX 780 Ti, 780, 770, 760, Titan, 680, 670, 660Ti, 660, 580, 570, 560Ti, 560, 560SE
AMD : R9 290X*, 290*, 280X**, 280**, 270X, 270 HD7970**, 7950**, 7870, 7850, 6970, 6950, 6870, 6850, 6790, 6770, 5870, 5850, 5830
The compatibility list is based on AMD Radeon and NVIDIA's reference board layout, screw spacing and die height only. Please check the height restriction before purchase.
* Some variation in die thickness and height may cause issues with screws being too short to install on some AMD 290-based cards.
* Do NOT force the G10 to fit if your card is too thick, contact support for a revised screw set.
** Some variations in AMD die height may require the use of a shim.

The reviews for HD 7950 states that it requires a shim and the NZXT website states it with a little star!!! so you guys sure that I do not need a shim??? o.O
