Which GPU would be the best for my system?

I want to get the most out of my graphics performance from my system. I know it's fairly old and that's why I need help deciding which GPU upgrade to get. Please no answers like "You need to get a new motherboard or PC before getting a new GPU." I already know my mobo only supports PCI-E 1.0, so there's no point in buying a 3.0 card because it'll be bottlenecked and I own't get the most performance out of it. That's why I need to know which 1.0 card to get because anything is better than the current card I'm using for games. I need something that will let me at least play on medium to high graphic settings. Thank you all for your answers in advance.

My system is an HP Pavilion m9350f
MOBO: ASUS M2N78-LA (Viola)
Chipset: NVIDIA GeForce 9100
Current GPU: nVidia GeForce 7200GS 256MB
Processor: AMD Phenom X4 9850 Quad core 2.5GHz
RAM: 6GB
Power Supply: 460w

I guess you could look at an ATI radeon X1950 but its an old card from 2006 but it wouldn't be bottlenecked at all. Or get a current day 750 Ti and enjoy similar performance until you can get newer parts that are more compliant with today's standards.

I'd imagine the strongest card you'd be able to throw into the system would be the gtx 750Ti, but that'll get bottlenecked. Your slot can get a card that's better than what your system has. It's still compatible with some of the newer 3.0 cards, but due to bandwidth it'll get bottlenecked more easily. I suggest maybe getting a 6670 or r9 250 or something around there. Something not too expensive but will perform better.

Well I was looking at getting a GTX 750 because of it's awesome performance and low power consumption. But would it even be worth the money to buy a 3.0 card to go into a 1.0 slot? How much of a bottleneck would that cause? Because I could always just use the card again later when I eventually upgrade the mobo and cpu if it still can run the games I want at a pretty good performance level. Or would it be wiser to just go with a low profile card like the 6670, R9 250, or the X1950 mentioned above? Which would be the better one to go with 6670 or r9 250? Wouldn't the r9 250 be bottlenecked as well?

My logic is that if a 750 would hit the bandwidth roof and perform as high as it can go, then it'd probably outperform all the other cards irregardless of bandwidth advantages. If they're using lower amounts of lane usage then wouldn't that theoretically equal lower performance? I think its just best to get a 750 since its so low powered in the first place and replace other parts later and be able to experience a bigger boost.

The gtx 750 would still be fine. I'm thinking it's not the pcie slot that would bottleneck, but rather the cpu.

So then technically what you're saying is, is that a bottlenecked gpu is faster than a lower end 1.0 gpu?
