It is easy to try. You really only want to use 1,6,11. Used to recommend INSSIDER before they started to charge for it. Still a good tool but not really worth the money since you pretty much end up guessing the channel anyway. Auto on most routers is in theory looking for other signals and selecting the best but it only looks when you first turn it on. Conditions may change though the day and a person can do a better job of selection.

It is a much better test to run wired even if it is just for a very short time. It would show if it is worth the effort to even bother messing with the wireless.
First be sure it isn't something like your neighbors wireless is interfering. It is much more likely the neighbor is using the internet during those times.
Try to run wired and see if the problem is same.

You can run tracert from a cmd prompt to say 4.2.2.2 and see what difference you see during the different times. Not a lot you can do about it but maybe you would see where the overload is. It could be in your neighhood because they oversold. Cable systems share the total bandwidth with everyone one in a certain area. It could also be that you ISP did not buy enough bandwidth to other larger ISP. This is what you see in the news now that netflix is buying direct connections to all the larger ISP because they are overloading the connections between ISP.

Still other than something interesting to do you likely will not get any type of overload condition fixed. Maybe you get lucky and it is the wireless in your house and you can use wired.

You Think Changing My Wi-Fi Channel Would Help?
