I was buying the parts for my new pc from my local shop and decided to get the mentioned board, but when I checked the specs on the box, it says SATA 3 only but online it says that it should have SATA 6. I got really, really confused so I decided not to get it or now.

Can anyone tell me which really is the correct info? Thanks.

Solution
I think you are confusing SATA III with 6 GB/s. They are both the same. The first describes the SATA version, the 2nd describes the transfer speed.

It was not written clearly on the box that the transfer rate is 6 GB/s which really makes it confusing. All it says is 6*SATA 3 and I read it as 6x SATA with 3 GB/s transfer rate.

but just on 2 ports [white ones blue are sata2]

Chipset: 1.2 x SATA 6Gb/s connectors (SATA3 0/1) supporting up to 2 SATA 6Gb/s devices
2.3 x SATA 3Gb/s connectors (SATA2 2/3/4) supporting up to 3 SATA 3Gb/s devices
3.1 x mSATA connector
4.Support for RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 5, and RAID 10
* When a RAID set is built across the SATA 6Gb/s and SATA 3Gb/s channels, the system performance of the RAID set may vary depending on the devices being connected.

6*SATA 3 means that there are six SATA 3 ports on the MB.

Yes, was able to read that, but as I mentioned earlier, I just got really confused that on the box it says 6*Sata 3 which I think is 6x Sata 3 Gb/s.

Thanks for the help though.

No, that is six SATA III (at 6GB/s). Why do you keep wanting to read it wrong?

Yes, was able to read that, but as I mentioned earlier, I just got really confused that on the box it says 6*Sata 3 which I THOUGHT WAS 6x Sata 3 Gb/s.

Chose the wrong word. My apologies.

Thanks clutchc!
