Asus Z97-A ATX LGA1150 Motherboard has an onboard USB 3.0 header, but the Cooler Master HAF 912 ATX Mid Tower Case does not have front panel USB 3.0 ports.
^^^is this really a big deal

which operating system should i choose?
should i buy a hdd on top of the ssd i chose?
should i buy additional fans?
any parts i should swap out for in your opinion?
will this pc play most games on max?

It only matters if you absolutely want to have USB3.0 on the front of your case; if not, you can just by an adapter that'll allow you to plug the USB2.0 cable from the front ports into the USB3.0 header on the motherboard. You'll of course then be limited to only having USB3.0 connectivity from your motherboard ports on the back.

*Also, to echo what Blaise said, you should get a higher-end power supply. The PSU is the last thing you should ever cheap out on; after all, it's the only single component capable of taking down your entire system should it suffer a catastrophic malfunction.

There is a version of the HAF 912 with front USB 3 ports . I think it is the 912 advanced

Alternately use the Corsair 200R or Antec ONE which both do have front USB3

For an OS use Win 8.1 64 bit
Its easy to add a start button using Classic Shell [ free]
and it has a license that lets you use it in two more computers [ one at a time ] , while oem win 7 is locked to the first mb and cant be re-used

1) Just go for windows 8. Most people don't like it but i assure you that after 2 weeks use you'll have got used to it.
2) I would definitely buy a HD on top of that SSD (you weren't really thinking about having only 250GB, right?)
3) I'd only buy some additional fans if i were over-clocking.
4) If there was something i would change about this build it would be getting rid of the SSD and buying a 2TB SSHD. Its a hybrid.
5) The most important thing about games is to have a good graphics card and the one you have (GTX 770) is great. It'll be able to play almost every nextgen game at highest settings, if not all of them.
