how to change sata setting on msi z97 mobo

Solution
Is it not detecting the SSD during installation? When you first boot the PC, try entering the setup with <Del> and navigating to settings, advanced, then there should be an option for SATA Configuration. It should be set to AHCI by default, but if you cannot get the Windows 7 installation to see the device you can change this to IDE and see if it works then. I'm not 100% sure but I remember my SSD coming with a driver disc which may be able to let your PC see it under the AHCI setting. Let me know if I was right or not on that one.
