Imma get straight to the point.. and cry later >.>

Leak tested for 2 days, no visible sign of leaks. Start pc up run the crossfire (2 R9 290xs cf) for another 2 days, everything seemed fine, stress test went good e.t.c e.t.c..

Then sudden crashes on the 5th day, and 2nd gpu not being detected or just acting buggy... have a look at it and then i see this...

So.. ye... as you can see the leak is far away from any actual fittings. So I believe the water block above is faulty and has leaked. Since the leak is so slow (the corrosion + the fact i can't see a single drop of water after staring at the setup up for 20min) its hard to tell, I've left a paper towel on it now to try and see if it can help tell me where exactly.

What do? try returning the card? is it completely dead - will cleaning the gunk off fix it? what about the leak o_O? This is just so friggin annoying XD.

A faulty "Made in Germany" product , i refuse to believe it. Its your fault by default.

Jokes aside, if the liquid in the cooling system was water(condutive), and not some mineral oil(non-conductive mostly), then i am afraid there is nothing you can do about it.

It's distilled water, I guess the water on its own is non conductive, but its probably picked up conductive stuff from the loop itself... I will end up trying to clean it with some alcohol and wipes. Dunno what i do about this leak problem though

I guess my current plan of action: clean the card. then place a paper towel on it (since the leak is slow - i.e. takes days to leak, I should get away with running the loop for a few minutes at least), and check if it still works... If it does, then I take apart the whole loop and RMA the waterblock which is leaking, and everything should be dandy by the end of it. That is... if the card still works o_O Any one with better ideas? Or whats the best way of going about cleaning the card?

Aight, 99% sure its the top waterblock leaking, no proof from paper towels yet.. but from this...

The residue left along the mobo heatsink suggests the leak came from above, and everything above the top gpu (i.e. the CPU area is bone dry/no residue) + i felt the underside of the top gpu waterblock and it felt damp (like there was moisture) so there is probably a very slow leak there.

I had a chat with the people I bought it from (Specialtech) they seemed reasonably sympathetic, told me to pop an email to them explaining everything like I have done (and also to send one to Aquacomputer). At worst they will just replace the waterblock and if i'm lucky they will refund the GPU cost.

First of all I need to clean the gpu and check if its actually completely dead. After that I'll go through the process listed above

Huzzah!! i cleaned the 2nd gpu with a shittona alcohol, and after a few fail start ups. It's now "working" probably still a tad buggy, but at least its not £300 down the drain. So now moving on with my plan, I've contacted special tech for an RMA on the waterblock and I also asked if they would help out with the 2nd GPU, heck maybe they will give me some cash to get a new card, they seemed pretty sympathetic.

Might as well add another update hahaha XD. Now I'm 100% sure its a failed GPU block - I felt quite a bit of water on the underneath and!!! picked it up on a paper towel. Looks like this one is being RMAed for sure, still waiting on specialtech's response. I hope when they test it, they do it thoroughly and realize what a slow leak it is (took me 5 hours to finally feel it) and how unlucky I was to fry my 2nd GPU.

I guess the fact that my 2nd GPU still "works" is ok... Worst case I will just use a buggy gpu in crossfire, with the primary one being the undamaged one, so if ever the 2nd fails, I'll just run on the first.

Now just need the patience to wait for a new water block :3
