Definitely it can cool your processor .
The problem is there are plenty of air coolers that can do the job better and quieter for less .......if you have room in your case
I second this. The H80i is good, but air coolers that cost 3 times less can do the same job just as well. By the way, any closed loop liquid cooler with a 120mmx120mm radiator that is thinner than the H80i is ineffective for the price. Don't get models like the H60, etc.
It's ultimately up to you. Do you want the cool factor that these things provide? Is the tiny temperature improvement of 1-2C recieved by having the hot CPU air ejected immediately out (instead of floating around inside the case) worth risking a catastrophic spill? These things are supposed to be really reliable, but I'd rather stick to air coolers for zero chance of wet circuits if I don't need to use a water cooler to achieve my desired results.
